Laxtoberfest Update -- Rules
By:  CK
Updated:  10/04/2007 at 10:54 AM

Breakers -  As someone brought to my attention that we will be playing under a variation of the NCAA Men's Lacrosse Rules for Laxtoberfest next weekend, I wanted to be sure that we were all on the same page and that you know EXACTLY what those rules were - so there are NO EXCUSES. The important rule that I wanted to draw your attention to was that we are allowed five (5) long poles.  - Chucky

Policies Governing Play

With the exception of the following tournament specific rules, all other USL rules for women and NCAA rules for men apply:

All games will start and end on time. Teams are responsible for being at the appropriate field at the appropriate time and will be assessed a delay of game penalty if not ready to begin at their scheduled time. Games may be shortened at the discretion of the tournament organizers to keep games on schedule.

Games will consist of two 20-minute running halves with no time-outs. Games may not end in a tie. If a game is tied at the end of regulation play, teams will continue to play until a winner is decided by sudden death.

Unsportsmanlike conduct (including violators of the "F" rule) will be determined by the officials and will result in an immediate 2-minute penalty.

Substitution is to be made on the fly through the substitution box.

No 10-second count in the defensive or offensive field areas.

Men's grandmasters, masters and elite division teams may have a maximum of 5 long poles on the field at any one time.

Body checking on the man with the ball is permitted in the Grand Masters division.

All players are required to wear the issued uniform of their team and all jerseys must have clearly visible numbers. Players are expected to have appropriate equipment including sticks, helmets, chin straps, mouthpieces and gloves. Goggles are required in all women's divisions.

Tournament Format & Schedule

Games begin at 8:00 am on Saturday and conclude by 5:30 pm on Sunday. Tournament format varies by division and team standings will be determined by overall win/loss record. In the event of a tie in standings, the tie will be settled in the following order:
  1. Head to head
  2. Highest average goal differential
  3. Least goals against
  4. Goals For
  5. Coin Toss
